Information on the traffic situation in Stockholm in end of May and early June

In the end of May and the beginning of June high school students completing the final year take their "studentexamen" which is widely celebrated in Sweden. The tradition has been that on graduation day the graduates are driven across the City on a decorated lorry platform resulting sometimes in traffic disturbances.

Reminder on the new location for diplomatic parking spaces outside the MFA

The Protocol Department wishes to remind of the fact that it is no longer permitted to park at the parking spaces at Fredsgatan 6-8 that was previously reserved for diplomats when visiting the Ministry for Foreign Affairs on short-term visits. Invitation to an information seminar on pension matters applicable for employment of local staff, etc

The Protocol Department arranges seminars on a regular basis on topics with immediate interest to Embassies, Career consulates and International organisations in Sweden. This time the seminar will focus on the Swedish pension system.

Information upon ending your posting in Sweden

The Protocol Department would like to draw the attention of staff nearing the end of your posting at an embassy, career consulate or international organisation in Sweden to the Department's memorandum with practical advice and instructions ahead of your transfer to your new posting. The memorandum is available on the Diplomatic Portal in the Diplomatic Guide section for Arrival and Departure.

Another successful trainee mingle at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Once is nice, but twice might make a tradition. That, at least, was part of the incentive to have another trainee mingle at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 9th of May.

Swedish Integration Policy presented to Ambassadors

On the 10th of May, some 60 foreign diplomats based in Stockholm were invited to the Ministry of Employment to listen to a presentation of Sweden's integration policy by the Minister of Integration, Mr Erik Ullenhag. The Minister pointed out that immigrants should not be considered as a weak group. Instead, their qualifications ought to be utilized as extensively as possible.

New information on the employment of local staff

Chapter 3 A 1 of the Diplomatic Guide on employment of local staff by diplomatic missions and career consular posts in Sweden has been updated. The new chapter now also includes information on the Swedish Employment (Co-Determination in the Workplace) Act.

Invitation to a study trip to Södermanland on 24 May

Heads of Mission are invited to a study trip to the county of Södermanland on 24 May. The Programme includes visits to the castle of Gripsholm, the cathedral of Strängnäs and the Volvo factory and other sites in Eskilstuna. A copy of the draft programme is available via the link below.
