Gender equality in figures

Making differences between women and men visible is a basic premise for being able to take active gender equality measures. Statistics are an important tool to show differences and how gender equality has developed over time.

Statistics Sweden

Statistics Sweden is responsible for official statistics in certain general sectors of society, such as the labour market, the economy, industry and prices, population and welfare, and housing and construction. Statistics Sweden has gathered and compiled statistics that are particularly important from the gender equality perspective. The most recent compilation can be found in the publication 'På tal om kvinnor och män - lathund om jämställdhet' (Talking of women and men - a quick guide to gender equality).

The Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention

The main task of the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention is to promote crime prevention work through development, evaluation, research and information in the area of criminal policy. As regards questions concerning violence against women, the Council maintains statistics on crime and crime development, perpetrators and motives.

Eurostat

The European Union (EU) has its own statistics office, Eurostat, which gathers statistics to make comparisons between EU Member States, including for gender equality.
