Government Offices archives
The Government Offices keeps its archives in a sub-archive at each ministry and in the central archive, which belongs to the Office for Administrative Affairs. Archival documents from the sub-archives are delivered to the central archive at regular intervals, which vary from ministry to ministry.
The Government Offices keeps the ministries' archives from 1997 onwards. Earlier archives have been transferred to the National Archives, with the exception of certain series of documents from the archive of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. These series are dossier groups HP (trade policy) and C (protocol matters), which are kept at the Government Offices from 1976 onwards.
The Government Offices also keeps archive documents that have been sent home to Sweden by missions abroad. However, older documents from the archives of missions abroad have been transferred to the National Archives. The time periods for delivery of archival documents vary from mission to mission. For more detailed information on which periods of the older archives of the missions abroad are kept at the National Archives, please refer to the National Archival Database of Sweden.
Other archives that are kept at the Government Offices
In addition to the above archives, the Government Offices keeps archives belonging to agencies for which the Government Offices provides administrative support. These include the Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs, the Selection Board of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Swedish Inheritance Fund Commission.
Committees are responsible for their own archives, which they deliver directly to the National Archives after completing their work.
