Swedish election observers to Kyrgyzstan
The Government decided today to send one election monitor, nine election observers and one statistician to Kyrgyzstan ahead of the parliamentary elections on 10 October.
"It is important that the upcoming parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan are conducted in accordance with international standards and that Sweden can contribute expertise to this election observation mission," says Minister for International Development Cooperation Gunilla Carlsson.
The decision to send election monitors follows a request from the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
Sida is responsible for the recruitment and training of Swedish election observers.
