Government appoints four new ambassadors and a consul-general
The Government today appointed four new ambassadors and one consul-general. The appointees are as follows:
Carl Magnus Nesser is appointed Ambassador in Baghdad. He is currently deputy head of the Swedish delegation to the OCSE in Vienna. He previously served at the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the United Nations in New York.
Håkan Åkesson is appointed Ambassador in Ankara. He is currently head of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Department for Management and Methods in Development Cooperation. He has previously worked with EU issues at the Ministry of Finance and been Ambassador to Ethiopia.
Carin Wall is appointed Ambassador in Bamako when the section office is upgraded in the autumn. She is currently Ambassador to Ouagadougou, Abidjan, Freetown and Monrovia, but stationed in Stockholm. She has previously been deputy head of the International Development Cooperation Department.
Jan Nyberg is appointed Consul-General in St Petersburg. He is currently deputy head of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Department for Eastern Europe and Central Asia and has previously served as a press counsellor in Paris.
Claes Hammar is appointed Ambassador in St John's, Port-au-Prince and Castries. He currently works on issues concerning trade and economics at the Embassy in Washington. He has previously been deputy head of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs International Trade Policy Department.
They will take up their new posts in the autumn.
