Sweden's Presidency budget

The cost of preparing and holding the Swedish Presidency is estimated at SEK 971 million.

Around half of this amount will go to the more than one hundred meetings that will take place in Sweden during the six months of the Presidency. These include informal ministerial meetings, senior official meetings, conferences, seminars and meetings with countries outside the EU.

The Presidency will lead to increased interest in Sweden from other countries, and increased attention for EU cooperation in Sweden. The budget for communications activities is being boosted to meet the increased need for information on the Presidency.

Other expenses include media and cultural activities, skills development and extra staff in the ministries and certain important missions abroad.
